Dreadlocks
Dreadlocks, also called locks, dreads, or Jata (Hindi), are matted coils of hair. Dreadlocks are usually intentionally formed; because of the variety of different hair textures, various methods are used to encourage the formation of locks such as backcombing. Additionally, leaving long hair to its own devices by not brushing or cutting the hair will encourage it to tangle together as it grows, leading to twisted, matted ropes of hair known as dreadlocks.
Overview
The hair is faded from skin to 1 cm in length from the edge of the hairline up 2 cm (0.8 in). The rest of the hair is left the same length, usually 2–5 cm, depending on the preference of the client egardless of its origins, the blowout's popularity was very strong, but peaked and declined sharply.
Afro
Sometimes shortened to 'fro and also known as a "natural", is a hairstyleworn naturally by people with lengthy kinky hair texture or specifically styled in such a fashion by individuals with naturally curly or straight hair.
The monhawk
The mohawk (also referred to as a mohican in British Englis) is a hairstyle in which, in the most common variety, both sides of the head are shaven, leaving a strip of noticeably longer hair in the center. The mohawk is also sometimes referred to as an iro in reference to the Iroquois, from whom the hairstyle is derived - though historically the hair was plucked out rather than shaved. Additionally, hairstyles bearing these names more closely resemble those worn by the Pawnee, rather than the Mohamk, Mohican//Mahican, Mohegan, or other phonetically similar tribes.
HI-top fide
A hip-hop fade is a style of haircut where hair on the sides is cut off or kept very short and hair on the topo of the head is very long (in contrast, a los fade is when hair on the topo is kept shorter). The hip-hop hass been a trend symbolizing the Goldent Era of hip hop and urban contemporany music during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The hip-hop fade was common among young African Americans between 1986 to 1993 and to a lesser extent in the mid-1990s (1994-1996). The style fell completely out of fashion by 1997, though it has slowly made a return in the public eye since late 2000s.
RAT TAIL
The rat tail mullet is based on. Its origin is uncertain, but there are references in ancient hairstyle pictures and writings of Asia and is used by various ethnic groups in Asia and Africa to represent the social and religious status. The rat tail also appears often in manga series like Ranma ½. The hairstyle becomes popular in the latter half of the decade of the 80's with the release of the film starring Eddie Murphy, "Coming to America". In the movie you can see Murphy sporting a rat tail, which the argument represents social status, the fact that Eddie Murphy used it, soon became a rage among teenagers afroamericanos.1
The rat tail lost popularity in the 90s, but it seems resurgence in the new millennium as a symbol of bad taste in some countries. It is often seen between punks and metalheads. The bogans (the lower classes related subculture in Australia) are identified with rat tails.
